Bobby Pinning

Brides- bobby pins can be your best friend or they can be your worst enemy.  They are needed for pretty much ALL bridal hair do's so learning how to use them properly is a good trick to have up your sleeve so that your hair stays in place on your big day.

Below is a tutorial on how to use bobby pins and creating sticky bobby pins with hairspray so they stay in place!

Bridesmaids Hair

Just because we focus on brides at HappilyeverborroWED doesn't mean we don't think about bridesmaids! Bridesmaids are the important women in a bride's life; her best friends, and it is just as important for them to look their best on the big day. Below are some of our favorite hair do's for bridesmaids, matched with some of products!

The messy bun- A current trend in the hair world is buns and one that we love is the messy bun. The one pictured here is more of a perfected, styled bun than an overall messy bun, but still is gorgeous. Add one, two or all three of our Justine M Couture Send Me Three Shooting Stars for a dressed up look. The set consists of 3 silver bugle beaded flowers, which are finished with a beautiful 10 mm diamond white pearl at the center.

Braided bun- This elegant braided style reminds us of the medieval ages and is a simple style that any bridesmaid can pull off. Insert our Boucheron Band by Stephanie Browne for a pop of dazzle. This piece is handmade in Australia with Swarovski crystals and makes a great detail for any bridesmaid.

Braided bun- Our favorite look is this high bun with a braid around it, which is a big trend right now. It will look cute on every bridesmaid and go with any and all dresses. Wrap our Avant Bride Victoria Vine piece around the bun for a splash of sparkle. Swarovski crystal accents and flowers alongside beautifully hand-painted flowers make this piece stunning.

Braided ponytail- We absolutely LOVE this very simple stated look, as it is so unique. Whether for a more intimate setting or a larger affair, this style will fit any bridesmaid. Pair it with a flower (as pictured) using our Octavia Feather Fascinators by Justine M Couture. This set of three features off white feathers with Swarovski center stones affixed to silver hair pins. Use one or all three to wrap around the ponytail, creating a beautifully subtle statement.

Curls- Create a cascade of curls that will stun a room and add our Jasmine Pearl Band by Stephanie Browne for some major bling. Handmade in Australia, the band is truly timeless because of its elegant Swarovski crystal design and Rhodium non-tarnishing finish.

Tucked braid updo- This classic look is just beautiful and makes for a timeless statement for any bridesmaid. Don it with our Pom Pom Flower by Justin M Couture for an all around gorgeous look. The pom pom flower uses 5” of flowy organza and tulle fabric with a “mithral” rhinestone center for a pop of glamour.

Which look will YOU choose for YOUR bridesmaids???

Date Night Looks

Since Summer is now officially over, it is time to go back to work and back to school. But that doesn't mean that Summer flings have to end. There's still ample time for dating and being in love. Here are some of our favorite date night looks, matched with HappilyeverborroWED accessories....

For a comfy yet flirty look, perfect for a lunch date or a movie night, pair a dark washed jean with some black heels and a slightly dressed up top. We love the black ribbon belt that matches the black heels. Add this Avant Bride Leigh Comb for a touch of sparkle to a bun or ponytail.

For a day at the beach or a meet up for coffee, stick to a more casual look. Pair a cute leather jacket with a plain tank top, denim shorts, and some sandals. To dress up the look a little bit, add this Justine M. Couture Pom Pom Flower. It'll add a hint of glamour and sophistication to an otherwise laid back outfit.

Whether you're meeting at a bar or a restaurant, this sexy outfit will turn heads. Pair a tight top with some sparkly black dress shorts and a boyfriend jacket. Add some sexy heels for height, and this Avant Bride Terri Headband for some sparkle, and you will have yourself one styling date outfit!

For a super sophisticated date night look, go with a short, flirty dress, and pair it with a fun pair of pumps or wedges. Stick with a simple color like blue, purple or gray, but stay away from black for the dress, and match the heels accordingly. To add a dash of sparkle, pair this Justine M. Couture London Flower , which looks gorgeous in a bun or among a tousle of curls.

Blushing Bride

"Bridal make-up should be special", Bobbi Brown, makeup expert and author of Makeup Manual, says.  "Wedding makeup must be long lasting, look amazing in photographs, and be timeless," she said. In her book, she mentions some rules that brides must follow if they want to achieve the best look for their big day.

Rules:

* Do a consultation and run-through of the your specific look(s) before the wedding day. "Reserve a an appointment for about four to six weeks prior to the wedding day to design and practice the look."

* Color
"Bridal makeup needs to have enough color to compensate for the whiteness of the dress." (But don't go crazy) "Start by making sure the skin looks even and smooth, and then add color to give cheeks and lips a glow. Finish with eyes that are defined but not overdone."

* Time
"To avoid feeing rushed, allow forty-five minutes to an hour for makeup application on the wedding day."

*Apply in natural light
"If possible, set up your makeup station near a window, or use a super bright lamp." This will ensure you do not miss any spots, and do not end up looking like a clown with pounds of makeup on.

* Use moisturizer
"Use a moisturizer that will prepare the skin for makeup. Avoid sunblocks and sunscreens that can give a 'flash off' to makeup. They reflect too much light under flash photography, resulting in an overexposed shot."

* Emphasize the eyes
"By brighting any darkness under them with corrector and concealer."

* Pink tones
"Flash photography emphasizes pink tones, so be sure to even out the skin with a yellow-toned foundation. Start around the nose and mouth, where there's redness, and then blend out to the rest of the face."

* Bright lip color
"Neutral, brown and pale lip colors look washed out in photographs, so choose a lipstick that's one or two shades brighter than what you normally wear... Pinks, roses, and plums are great choices for brides."

For more tips and some 'dos and dont's', pick up a copy of Bobbi's book. Below is a tutorial from Bobbi on how to achieve a beach or city bride look.

Glitter eye shadow is a bold fashion statement that we just love.  But it’s hard to walk the line with glitter… it’s way too fun to pass up, but you don’t want to end up looking like a Vegas showgirl on your wedding day!
Here’s the perfect balance to dress up your eyes in a chic + effortless fashion. (from Lauren Conrad's Beauty Department).

TOOLS: gold + burgundy powder eye shadows, glitter cream shadow, black liquid liner, your favorite mascara, black kajal liner, a crease brush, a medium flat-head brush.
  1. With the crease brush, apply the light gold shadow just above your crease all the way up to your brow bone. Then trace the remainder along your lower lashline.
  2. Using the flat-head brush, apply the burgundy shadow in a half-moon shape just along and above the crease. Then sweep an additional layer along your lower lashline.
  3. Apply the glitter cream shadow all over the lid directly from the shadow stick, building layers until you have a good amount of product deposited.
  4. Line your upper lashline with the black liquid liner, winging it out if you wish.
  5. Apply a couple coats of your favorite black mascara. For it to last throughout your wedding, waterproof is best.

Below are additional options using glittery eyeshadow.
