Pre-Wedding

There are some places a bride has to hit up before her big day. And whether in New York or Los Angeles, there are unique places in both cities.

drybar - This unique salon does not do hair cuts or fancy updos. They do blowouts and that is what makes them different. "Our philosophy is simple. Focus on one thing, and be the best at it. For us, that’s blowouts." Whether on a night on the town or a girls night out, drybar is a place you want to stop at. They will serve you and your girlfriends champagne, give you a neck/back massage and even wash your hair before they blow it out. If you find yourself loving it, drybar has membership options and even a "bartab," in which you can buy a bunch of blowouts at once, and they will keep track of them and take them off your tab each time you come in. For $35, you couldn't ask for a better deal! Drybar has locations in both Los Angeles and New York.

Future Tan- With multiple New York locations, Future Tan offers brides a flawless tanning experience. Whether it's U.V tanning, automated sunless spray tanning, or sunless airbrush tanning, Future Tan has it all at an affordable price! Coupons are available to print out online or scan on your phone, and weekly unlimited passes for the bride who wants to always be glowing. Right before your honeymoon, bachelorette party, or on a weekly basis, Future Tan is perfect for the New York bride (and her bridal party).

flirtbeautybar- This beauty studio specials in professional make-up, lash extensions and airbrush tanning. It is perfect for brides and their maids whether it be for the wedding itself or a bachelorette party. Flirt Beauty Bar offers multiple bridal make-up prices, including airbrush make-up, wedding party make-up and even a free consultation. For engagement photos, bachelorette party or bridal party, professional make-up (airbrush or non), is offered. Tattoo coverage is also available as well as eyelash extensions and tanning. Parties of 5 or more can get a deal on tanning, with the hostess receiving a free tan and aftercare kit. Flirt Beauty Bar has locations in Temecula, Orange County, San Diego, Riverside, and Los Angeles.

Bombshell Tans- This mobile airbrush tanning company specializes in making house calls without the harmful effects of the sun's rays. It "minimizes imperfections such as scars, cellulite and stretch marks instantly, leaving you with a radiant glow."  Much like  Flirt Beauty Bar, Bombshell Tans offers parties, in which the host tans for free, but they also offer monthly packages and a free tan on your birthday! Perfect for pre-bridal shower or bachelorette party. (located in Temecula, CA only)

Pre-Dame- This mobile make-up company provides girls with a fun alternative to going to the make-up counters in the mall to get their make-up done before a big night out. "I no longer beg my friends to let me do their make-up. now, they’re begging me. And that’s how pre-dame parties were born," Stefanie Syat, Owner, says. Pre-Dame has packages available, ranging from a girl's night out to group lessons. Who needs a visit to the mall when the make-up can come to you! The best part? Every party comes with a free bottle of champagne! (located in NY only)

The Great Bridal Expo- With stops in both Los Angeles and New York (among many others), the Great Bridal Expo is a must for brides. Sponsored by David's Bridal, Bed Bath and Beyond, Michael's, and Men's Wearhouse, the Bridal Expo is a one stop shopping experience every bride or couple must experience. CA Wedding

California Weddings

New Yorkers-you can tune out for this one, Californians-this is your time to shine! (no pun intended) The Golden State is known for its sunshine, beaches, and Hollywood celebs, but there is more to it than that. California has a lot of unique locations to say "I Do." Below is a list of locations throughout California that any bride would love.

Beach Wedding- From Santa Barbara to Pebble Beach to Laguna Beach, California has endless possibilities when it comes to wedding locations. If you are a bride who loves the feeling of sand between your toes, then the beach is the perfect locale!

Hotel del Coronado- Located in San Diego, this beachfront hotel was named the "number-one wedding destination in America" by the Travel Channel and is perfect for those who want a variety of options by the beach. Whether a bride wants to be literally ON the beach, in a garden or a ballroom, this hotel has 42 different rooms to chose from. With such a big event to plan, the hotel even offers suggestions of venders that they have used before, amongst other things. Whether simple, romantic, fancy or picturesque, this hotel is picture-perfect.

So what does a bride wear to a pool side wedding? Either something short and detailed or long and simple. You do not want to distract away from the beautiful backdrop but at the same time, you don't want to be dragging your dress through the sand, so a short, detailed dress would be ideal.

To add to an otherwise simple gown, brides should wrap our Millie Sash (made by Jenny Yoo) around their waist to add a bit of detail. The pinwheel design is handmade with delicately scattered crystals and rhinestones added to a 100% silk ribbon.

Hollywood Wedding- In the heart of Los Angeles lays the movie capital of California, filled with celebrities and impersonators lining the street. So why not have a Hollywood themed wedding? For the couple that loves movies, or just loves theatrics, there are plenty of unique venues to get married in Hollywood.

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel- This famous hotel is right across from the Kodak Theatre on Hollywood Blvd and provides a glamorous backdrop to create a memorable day. You can even have your wedding in the iconic Blossom Room, which was home to the first Academy Awards Ceremony! The Roosevelt can fit fifteen to fifteen hundred with 25,000 square feet of versatile function space. Make your big day a small and intimate affair or a big Hollywood production!

So what does a bride wear to a fancy Hollywood wedding? Something dramatic and romantic, of course! (Think Marilyn Monroe, girls!) Ruffles and off white (or even a colored dress) would make any bride stand out for her big entrance.

To add a bit of Hollywood glamour to your hair without taking away from your dramatic gown, brides should don our flapper inspired Swoon Feather Fascinator, made by Justine M Couture. It features feathers and Swarovski stones, a perfect combination for the Hollywood glamour bride.

Pool Wedding- It's pretty much true what they say- every California house has a pool in the backyard. So why not take advantage of the glistening water and create a beautiful wedding around it? With floating candles and flowers to add to the romantic ambiance, a pool wedding is perfect for the bride who loves to be different.

Historic Cree Estate- Located in Palm Springs, this hotel has one of the largest and most beautiful pools in all of Palm Springs. It is elaborately tiled in Catalina blue, and has both a spa and waterfall. It has the look of a tropical lagoon, enhanced by its curving shape, a swim-up bar, and birdcages and lanterns strung from surrounding trees. Close to the pool is a built-in dance pavilion, perfect for guests who want to dance the night away.

So what does a bride wear to a pool side wedding? Either something short and detailed or long and simple.

To add a pop of sophistication to your hair, brides should don our Pom Pom Flower. Made of flowy organza and tulle fabric, this delicate flower has a “mithral” rhinestone center, giving it a bit of sparkle.

Vineyard Wedding- Napa, which is about an hour outside San Francisco, is what most people think when they hear "winery", but others, such as the infamous Martha Vineyard, make a perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding setting. For the couple who has a love for the outdoors, or wine, a vineyard is a beautiful option for saying "I Do" and California has a number of them to chose from.

Villa de Amore- Located in Temecula, CA, it is central to Orange County and San Diego. This private estate is perfect for wine lovers, as it has a 360 view of the Temecula Wine Country. Whether it be the bride that wants to splerge on her big day or the bride that is on a budget, this location can accomedate any bride's needs. For the splurging bride, the venue can create your dream wedding FOR you with their "all inclusive wedding package". For the bride on a budget, the venue can also cater to a minimum of 50 guests with their discounted vendors.

So what does a bride wear to a vineyard wedding? A long, sweetheart cut dress with a tad of drama!

To add to the garden-theme of a vineyard wedding, brides should don our Claudia Veil. It adds just a hint of drama with its flower detailing without taking away from the local or gown.

Disney Wedding- One of the most famous spots in California has to be Walt Disney's Disneyland. People travel from all over the world to meet Minnie, Mickey and their friends. Although it may not be the IDEAL spot for a wedding (except for Disney lovers), who DOESN'T want to feel like a princess on their big day?

Disneyland- Of course Disneyland has its own wedding locations. Whether you want to take advantage of their Paradise Pier, Grand Californian or the Disneyland Hotel, Disney offers many choices when it comes to wedding venues and has three pricing packages to accommodate multiple price ranges. Whether you want to be married in an intimate rose garden or in the morning sunlight of Sleeping Beauty's castle, Disney can make your princess dreams come true!

So what does the ultimate Disney princess bride wear? A ballgown, of course! But that doesn't mean that it has to be your typical Cinderella gown. Brides have a lot of options when it comes to poofy ballgowns and that does not necessarily mean a long, flowing dress. (See below)

And what princess is complete without her tiara? Our Kate Tiara, made by Halo & Co, is the perfect accessory for the Disney bride on her big day.

Pretty Please

We love a good creative idea at HappilyeverborroWED, and the latest one we have come across is the genius idea of Pretty Please Nail Polish. Brides and their maids can have loads of fun with this concept-whether at a bridal shower, bachelorette party, or as a party gift. Pretty Please lets you create your own unique name (and eventually, colors) for your nail polish. personalizing it to match your own style.

Sara Ricklen, Founder of Pretty Please, says that's what the brand is all about. "I believe that love is in the details and nail polish is such a cute and feminine way to spread the love...the idea for Pretty Please came more from my excitement around personalized gifts and keepsakes than anything else.

The concept is simple- pick a color and name it what you want! But that is what makes it such an innovative idea! "When I came up with the idea for personalized nail polish I was looking for a cute gift for my mom. I actually assumed it was already on the market, says Ricklen. "When I went to find and order the nail polish online, I realized I was wrong - personalized nail polish was nowhere to be found! I couldn't get the idea out of my head and I ultimately decided to create it on my own."

While the web site is currently still under construction, Ricklen is working on the concept of people being able to DESIGN their OWN nail polish colors (awesome, I know). "Mix your own color is a big goal for Pretty Please. I am working on the process now, says Ricklen. " It's never been done before so I don't know exactly how long it will take. I hope to have have customers mixing their own shades in 2013."

And while we wait for that to happen, you can choose from 12 different colors in the Pretty Please collection. "My favorite color in the line is #5 (hot pink) in the Color Pop collection," says Ricklen. WHY? "It holds a special place in my heart because it's my moms go-to color and the color that inspired the idea for Pretty Please."

My Favorite Summer Styles

I never have really been one to be INTO the fashion styles or followed them, but I guess my Carrie Bradshaw side is coming out because I am loving some of this Summer styles! Here's a few of my favorite trends:

Long, flowing skirts- I have always had a thing for skirts, but the new trend that is happening is LONGER skirts, which I just adore! Whether going to the beach, at work, or out for drinks with the girls, this style is perfect for any occasion.

BRIGHT neon colors- I have never liked bright or neon colors (except neon pink) but the trend of adding a bright, popping color to an outfit is genius! The color makes the outfit POP, turning a normal ensemble into a unique piece of art. Perfect for a night out or summer day at the office.

High-low skirts- I was never a fan of the high-low dress, but I think that the skirts are just adorable! I feel like it's a "party in the front, business in the back" kind of a skirt; one you can wear both to work or on a date. Worn with a belt, or without, these skirts are my current obsession!

Open back dresses- I used to think that open back shirts and dresses were totally tacky but now that they are being made into designs in the back (zig zags pictured here or my personal favorite-hearts), I find them ADORABLE! Whether on a date or partying with the girls, these dresses are unique and sure to cause attention!

Color blocking-One of the biggest trends happening right now are color blocked dresses. Doesn't matter the color-as long as there is more than one in the mix, then you have it going on! I own a few dresses that have white or black on top and a different color on the bottom, and JUST bought another one. It is a fun way to play with color without completely losing it. Anyone can rock this style!

Bridal Hair

Up-dos are in this season for brides, and we think that these are the best choice. We even paired them with accessories from our site!

This beautiful twisted bun we'd pair with our Felipa Feather Flower made by Justine M Couture.

This braided updo doesn't NEED an accessory but to add a dash of glamour we'd pair with our Send Me Three Shooting Stars, also by Justine M Couture.

High buns are a trend this season and adding just a bit of sparkle turn this simple updo into a stunning one! We paired it with our Cait Headpiece by Avant Bride.

This updo is beautiful on it's own but just by adding a flower to the side or back of it will make your hair stand out even more! We paired it with our London Flower by Justine M Couture.

This unique braided updo has so many twists and turns that nothing is really needed, but much like in the picture, if you add a small crystal to the back of the hair, it pulls it all together. We paired it with our Leigh Comb, by Avant Bride.

Just adding a hint of sparkle or a flower to an updo can turn it into a stunning piece of artwork that will leave guests breathless.
